Joan Fairs Floral Design is a home based business located in Burnaby, BC. Joan has over 30 years of experience working with flowers and loves to share her passion by providing fresh arrangements for special occasions. As well, she enjoys practicing Ikebana – the art of Japanese floral design – and sharing her expertise by giving Ikebana lessons.
Being a creative person, Joan was always drawn to nature and the arts, but her love of flowers truly “blossomed” in the early 80s when her step-mother introduced her to Ikebana. From this, Joan found serenity and beauty while working with flowers which eventually lead her to pursue her interest more seriously. In 1997, she earned a certificate with distinction of Commercial Floristry, from Kwantlen University; and in 2013 Joan proudly attained the highest professor degree in the Sangetsu School of Ikebana.
Although Joan effortlessly creates floral arrangements for all occasions, she specializes in wedding design. She has dazzled countless brides and their guests over the years and found no exception when she more recently designed the floral bouquets and arrangements for her own daughter’s wedding. Joan provides in home consultations in order to work with each bride’s budget, tastes and theme.
Joan maintains an ongoing class of Ikebana students at her home in South Burnaby. Beginners are always welcome and a new set of introductory classes commence every January, April and September. Please enquire on our contact page for class schedules or for more information.
